Eliminación de microplásticos en agua potable mediante musgo Sphagnum magellanicum en Puente Piedra y San Martín de Porres, 2019

La presente investigación tuvo como finalidad eliminar las partículas de microplásticos
presentes en el agua potable domiciliaria. Las micropartículas de plástico se encuentran
presentes en el agua potable a nivel mundial, ya sea de grifo o embotellada, generando
problemas para el ambiente y posiblemente para la salud pública. Para eliminar este
contaminante del agua se empleó el musgo Sphagnum magellanicum debido a las
características que presenta este espécimen, gracias a la ausencia de cutícula en sus hojas y
tallos puede absorber y adsorbe pequeños sólidos como los microplásticos. El tipo de
investigación fue aplicado, teniendo enfoque cuantitativo y diseño cuasi-experimental. La
población seleccionada fue el agua potable domiciliaria de los distritos de Puente Piedra y
San Martín de Porres, mientras que la muestra fue de 96 ejemplares obtenidos de 4 viviendas
por cada distrito en mención, los datos de cada una de las muestras, así como de los resultados
obtenidos después de la experimentación se rellenaron en una serie de instrumentos, tales
como tabla de recolección de muestra, cadena de custodia, tabla de caracterización y tabla
de resultados. La implementación del musgo Sphagnum magellanicum logró reducir un
mínimo de 90.4% y un máximo de 97.27% la cantidad de microplásticos en el agua potable
domiciliaria en un periodo de 1 y 4 horas respectivamente, logrando encontrar desde 14 hasta
26 partículas de plástico >0.45 μm por cada 250 mL de agua. Al analizar todos los resultados
obtenidos se pudo concluir que el musgo Sphagnum magellanicum es eficaz al emplearlo
como un depurador de microplásticos.
