Background: Since primitive times man has been exploring different ways to search for cures and relief to various diseases through the use of various plants, plant products and products derived from plants. Recently the international scientific community has begun to investigate about the bacterial effect of the aqueous extract Zingiber officinale "Kión". In this study they used "Kion" Peruvian.
Aim: The study evaluated the antibacterial effect of the aqueous extract of the Zingiber officinale "Kión" compared with gentamicin on strains of Staphylococcus aureus, vitro.
Methods: The extract watery of Zingiber oficinale is obtained by compression in conditions sterile and through the technical of Kirby Bauer in wells is enfrento to 7 strains of Staphylococcus aureus. We used gentamicin as a positive control.
Results: Strains of Staphylococcus aureus showed a high sensitivity a-gentamicina, with a halo inhibition Average 28 mm; while front to the aqueous extract of Zingiber officinale "Kión", bacterial growth inhibition was not observed.
Conclusions: Extracto aqueous from Zingiber oficinale not have antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus
