El presento estudio se realizó con el objetivo de determinar la relación entre
depresión y percepción respecto a la muerte en adultos mayores del Hogar San
José. Trujillo, 2020. El tipo de estudio fue aplicado, de diseño observacional,
transversal, descriptivo y correlacional, se hizo un muestreo no probabilístico por
conveniencia, siendo 64 los participantes de este estudio respetando los criterios
de selección. Se utilizaron como instrumentos a la escala de depresión geriátrica
de Yesavage y el cuestionario para evaluar la percepción del adulto mayor respecto
a la muerte. Los resultados se obtuvieron de la prueba de correlación Rho de
Spearman que mostraron un p-valor menor que 0.01 (p=0.000<0.01), rechazando
la hipótesis nula (Ho: p = 0), el valor del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman
presentó un signo negativo (Rs = −0.956), concluyendo que existe una relación
inversa significativa al 1% de significancia, cuya fuerza de asociación es bien alta
negativa entre depresión y percepción respecto a la muerte en adultos mayores del
