Mejoramiento en el diseño de un pavimento rígido incorporando fibras de plástico PET reciclado, 2020.

Esta investigación se realizó con la finalidad de optimizar el rendimiento del
concreto por adición de fibras plásticas PET recicladas, que desembocará en un
mejor diseño del pavimento rígido. Se evaluó la incorporación de fibras plásticas
PET en un 2%, 5%y 7.5%, planteándose que a medida que se incorporen estas
fibras mejoren la resistencia a la compresión y a la flexión, optimizando el
espesor de losa y los costos al diseñar pavimentos rígidos. Se encontró que el
concreto con refuerzo de 5% de PET mostró mejores resultados en la resistencia
a la compresión, en un 13.42%. mayor a la del concreto estándar; mejoró, en
un 22.99%, la resistencia a la flexión en relación a la del concreto estándar.
Los resultados obtenidos correspondieron a ensayos mecánicos adoptándose el
método AASTHO-93 para diseñar el pavimento rígido, donde el espesor de losa
de concreto estándar (23,0 cm) y de concreto reforzado (20,0 cm). La reducción
en 3,0 cm de la losa reduce el volumen y costos del concreto .
El buen desempeño obtenido con los residuos plásticos PET hace que se los
pueda utilizar como material de refuerzo para el concreto, reduciendo así el
impacto en el medio ambiente.
