Comorbilidades metabólicas como factores de riesgo para hiperplasia benigna de próstata

Objetivo: La investigación se realizó con la finalidad de poder determinar las
comorbilidades metabólicas como factores catalogados de riesgo para
desarrollar la hiperplasia benigna prostática en pacientes de 50 a 70 años de
edad que tuvieron atención en la prestación de urología del Hospital Regional de
Moquegua durante el año 2019.
Materiales y métodos: Se hizo de uso de 351 historias clínicas, dentro de ellas
117 pacientes fueron los casos y 234 pacientes fueron los controles del Hospital
Regional de Moquegua, siendo un estudio analítico, retrospectivo y correlacional
de casos y controles, para el procesamiento de los datos recolectados se hizo
uso del programa estadístico SPSS en su versión 26.
Resultados: Se halló que la obesidad con un IMC ≥ 30 es una comorbilidad
metabólica que tiene asociación para el crecimiento prostático (OR=1,696; IC
95%=1,081–2,261; P=0,021) por el contrario la diabetes mellitus (OR=0,359; IC
95%=0,102–1,256; P=0,095), la hipercolesterolemia (OR=0,880; IC 95%=0,537–
1,441; P=0,611) y la hipertrigliceridemia (OR=1,127; IC 95%=0,723–1,758;
P=0,597) no tienen relación para el desarrollo de la glándula prostática.
Conclusiones: La obesidad en una comorbilidad metabólica que tiene
asociación con el crecimiento prostático hasta en 1.69 veces más; por otro lado,
la diabetes mellitus, la hipercolesterolemia y la hipertrigliceridemia de manera
individual son comorbilidades metabólicas sin asociación con el desarrollo de
hiperplasia prostática benigna, pero se considera factor de riesgo al tener
asociación con otros factores metabólicos.
