Actitudes hacia la enfermedad mental en trabajadores de un centro de salud mental y un centro de salud general en Castilla. Piura. 2014

Debido a la importancia que tiene conocer la opinión de la población acerca de la
enfermedad mental, se realizó un estudio descriptivo - comparativo sobre la actitud hacia
esta enfermedad. Se tomó una muestra de 55 trabajadores pertenecientes a un Centro de
Salud Mental y 55 trabajadores de un Centro de Salud General, lo que permitió hacer un
diagnóstico adecuado sobre la percepción de la población hacia las personas con
trastornos mentales. Se aplicó el cuestionario de actitudes hacia la enfermedad mental de
Cohén y Struening, con el objetivo de ubicar en la población las opiniones favorables y
desfavorables hacia la variable en estudio y su cinco indicadores. El primer indicador
negativismo recoge la necesidad de encerrar y tomar distancia de las personas con
enfermedad mental por considerarlos peligrosas. El segundo indicador etiología
social/interpersonal señala la comprensión y justificación de la enfermedad. El
autoritarismo, como tercer indicador, determina la subestima a estas personas. Un cuarto
indicador, resctrictividad señala como incapaces a estos pacientes para desarrollar
distintas actividades. El quinto indicador prejuicio recoge la carga de temor e incomodidad
ante la presencia del enfermo mental. Se concluyó que a nivel general no existen
diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos de trabajadores. No siendo así en el factor
negativismo en donde se observó diferencias muy significativas entre ambos grupos
evaluados. También se concluye que un trato habitual y una información objetiva se
derivan en una mejora de actitudes de los trabajadores hacia la enfermedad mental y hacia
las personas que la padecen.
